MP pitch for success of SAGY
PASIGHAT, Jun 29: The District Level Committee for approval of Village Development Plan (VDP) under Sanshad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY) of Takilalung village was chaired by Nidhi Srivastava DC, East Siang which was attended by MP Ninong Ering, ZPC Kaling Dai, PRI leaders of Takilalung village and HODs of the district. Srivastava urged all to put in schemes which are reasonable and feasible. She appealed all to make Takilalung a model village.
Ninong Ering said that there is high expectation and for the success of SAGY, all have to change their mindset and work with positive attitude. The team work of all the departments and the villagers will definitely bring positive results, added the MP. He assured to take up the schemes at the appropriate level.

Bridge washed away
TAWANG, Jun 29: Flash flood on Sunday washed away an RCC bridge over Bomja Nallah cutting off road communication to Bongkhar circle.
The PMGSY road from Teli Khet to Bongleng village is considered as lifeline for the villagers of Bomja, Kharung and Bongleng.
Disruption in road communication has affected transportation of ration and other essential items besides causing great hardship to the patients in attending emergency medical treatment.

AASSATA reiterates demand
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: The All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) has reiterated for pay enhancement and implementation of RTE as per revised norms for teachers. In a letter the AASSATA reminded the assurances made by the Education Minister.
During a meeting convened on May 7 last under the chairmanship of the Education Minister, it was decided that a committee will be constituted to make a detail study on the issue and submit it within two months to the government. The time ends on July 7 next. It is worth mentioning here that the association had deferred its proposed protest rally after the minister had assured them of looking into the demand.
If the committee do not comply and submit the report by July 7, we will continue our proposed democratic movement in a phase wise manner, the reminder stated.
Power Minister’s claim untrue: ANYA
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has termed the Power and Home Minister’s reaction to ANYA’s earlier press statement as untrue.
ANYA in a statement reiterated that a team of the association on June 27 went to the residence of the Power cum Home Minister for seeking his intervention to mitigate power crisis in Capital Complex. But, it was him (Home Minister), who did not turn up and show any gesture to the visiting ANYA team even after a long wait, the release claimed.
This is not the first time; earlier too he had denied meeting a visiting ANYA team on health and various other grounds, the release claimed.
“As a true leader, he should have come out and met the team to know the grievances of the people,” the release said, and demanded the state government drop him as power minister and appoint a ‘fit’ and ‘energetic’ person in his place.
ANYA also took strong exception to the absence of the CE (Power Western Zone) in office in this hour of crisis and also the alleged lack of fund for purchasing transformer by power department as told by the EE (Power).
Vehicle pollution testing held
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Demonstration of vehicle pollution testing was conducted by the state Transport department authorised North East Environment Engineers & Consultant (NEEE&C) during a programme held at its center in Papu Nallah here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Transport Talem Tapok said that pollution is a global problem and though the state is considered a less polluted zone in comparison to the rest of the states in the county, it is necessary that people should become more aware and get their vehicles tested for pollution at the center.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan reach Tawang schools
TAWANG, Jun 29: Taking Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) to schools, Tawang Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Dev today distributed banners displaying tips on health and hygiene and sufficient quantities of liquid hand wash to the DDSE Tawang for use in various schools of the district.
Addressing the students at Govt. Hr. Sec. School here, the Deputy Commissioner advised them to maintain cleanliness, health and hygiene practices both at school and home. He asked the DDSE and the school authorities to display the banners in conspicuous locations and asked the DDSE to direct all the School Management Committees to refill the liquid soaps on regular basis.

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Stating that the absence of proper banking facility at Mebo township has been causing much hardship to the people of the area, the Itanagar Mebobian Welfare Kebang (IMWK) in a letter to the regional business general manager SBI, today appealed for early establishment of a SBI branch with ATM facilities at Mebo.

Union demands hostels at Namsai GHSS
ITANAGAR, June 29: All Tai Khampti Singpho Students Union (ATKSSU) has appealed to the Namsai MLA to restart the hostel facilities for boys and girls of the Govt Higher Secondary School, Namsai.
In its memorandum to the MLA, the Union said that the hostels of the school have been closed for more than 13 years. While the girls’ hostel is occupied by the staff of the school, the boys’ hostel remains in a pitiable condition without renovation and reconstruction work, the union said.
The union expressed serious concern over the fact that the only higher secondary school of the district headquarter has no hostel facilities.

NE needs special support
The chief ministers of the north eastern states have been raising their voice for
last many months for retention of special category status to their respective states
so that the special financial support they get from the Centre was not done away
with. After going through the recommendation of the 14th Finance Commission and
the union budget of 2015-
The sharing pattern for centrally sponsored schemes between the special category
states and the Centre was 90:10. On the other hand the union budget had indicated
that this would be discontinued forcing the states to contribute more. The CMs
are also observed that the decision taken in the union budget of 2015-
It is worth mentioning here that Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has also been advocating for retention of special category status of the NE states and continuation of 90:10 funding pattern.
While attending the final meeting of the sub group on rationalisation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in New Delhi recently, Tuki had urged for reconsidering the Special Plan Assistance (SPA) to fill up critical infrastructure gap citing the late entry of the state in the journey of development and continued need of support from the Centre.

Justice awaiting the Police Officer

With reference to the article written by one Vicky Saroh on 1st June 2015 and the
news items that appeared in your daily on 21st of June 2015 respectively, I on the
behalf of Kiiling-
This time the high handedness of common public of Assam has ultimately been revealed by mercilessly attacking a police team on duty leading to a life threatening injury to one of our beloved member SI Benji Saroh who was leading the team for an investigation of an extortion case.
This could probably be the first ever incident in the history of Arunachal where police officer on duty was being obstructed from discharging his duty and brutally assaulted without any valid reason.
I even don’t understand how the entire police department of our state resists such humiliation that too by the public of other state.
I request the concerned authority to take stern action against the defaulters. An independent inquiry committee should be constituted at the earliest to expedite the matter to avoid biasness of the investigation process. It is also learned that the OC who himself is the IO of the case is handling the case very casually and thus delaying the investigation process. Also his service gun is yet to be traced. This shows great negligence on the part of Assam Police towards this case.
The victim is still under the medical supervision and so far he has not yet received any monetary support from the parent department.
I strongly appeal to the concerned authority to lend sufficient monetary assistance to the victim in order to avoid any medical shortcomings which may hamper his health in the long run. Otherwise, no any police personnel shall dare to carry out his or her duty across the border of the state in the days to come if the authority concerned remained dormant on this particular issue which is not less than an attempt to a murder case. Hope justice will be delivered soon.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, i would like to ventilate my anguish towards some wrong
notions prevailing in our society and our state-
Suddenly a Medical Security Guard came hurling intimidating words like” tera aankh andhaa hai kya,gate ko dikhai nai deta hai ?. I told him that we are not going to park the car. But he kept on repeating the same words. At that point I just ask him to calm down and talk in an acceptable manner. But his aggressiveness flared up and the guard started showing me his name badge and asked me to lodge a complaint against him with the Medical Superintendant of the State Hospital, Naharlagun and even the Director of Health Services. He challenged that even if I lodge a complaint, the higher authorities won’t be able to mark even a little scratch on him, as if the entire Medical authority is under him. I was shocked to see the utter disrespect for the higher authorities by the guard. I do not care what Medical Superintendant or the Director of Health Services can do to him but I do care that if he doesn’t have any respect for his own higher authorities then what we as a common people can expect from him. I was speechless when the guard tried to assault me. But what made me more shocked was when he started using abusive words like” Aurat Jaat Aurat Jese Raho”.
I wonder what does this phrase “ Aurat Jaat” connote? Do we (both men and women) not belong to Homo sapiens? Does it mean we “Aurat Jaat” should get abused without any fault of us? Does it mean we” Aurat Jaat” should suffer silently whatever torture is meted out to us? Does it mean we” Aurat Jaat” should get beaten up without any resistance. My simple answer is a big “No”.
To me, crime against woman takes birth from these very thoughts. We don’t crave for special treatments but at least treat us as humans. Moreover every person on this earth should remember that every man is nurtured for nine months in the womb of the very “Aurat Jaat”.
My piece of writing should not be taken as a defamatory note against that particular guard as i don’t have any ill feelings for him. Rather it should be taken as a strong message to people who still preach such stereotype and hypocritical concept of Aurat Jaat. It should also be taken as a strong message to authorities of State hospital and Department of Health Services. Although, we do not doubt the wisdom of the office which recruits those guards but as a general public we can request with our folded hands to recruit such persons as Medical Security Guards who has some empathy with patients/visitors of the hospital and also who has some respect for their own higher authorities. It should also be taken as a strong message to my own fellow women folks to nullify such demeaning “Aurat Jaat” status and come out loud against such stereotype and hypocritical imposition.
We should not forget, Arunachal is the land of women like Indira mallo, it is the land of women like Tongam Rina, it is the land of woman like Anshu Jemsenpa , it is the land of women like Ujum Perying.

Political parties should not resort to bandhs
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to high light some of the points that led to the recent bandh call by the Jan Andolan Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party state unit. The bandh call had no justification. My first point is; how an opposition party could call a bandh as the Supreme Court had already banned it.
If an opposition party has any demand or issue; they may raise its voice in state legislative Assembly for the cause of common people and development of the state rather than harassing the general public.
My second point is regarding the imposition of financial emergency in the state. There is no external aggression nor is India facing any economic crisis so the imposition of financial emergency in the state does not arise.
Regarding the president rule in the state, under article no 360, there are some processes and procedures under which presidential rule is imposed. And the resignation of the chief minister does not arise either, when the government has the required majority.
Because of the fight for the chair and the power, we are facing the problems. The bandh calls do not bring any fruits. So stop it and go for democratic means to full fill any demands.
At the end, I would like to request all the political parties to refrain from bandh call which causes hindrance to state progresses and development.
It’s a voice from the common people.

Assam builds Forest Protection Camp in Arunachal’s Radhaso

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: A team of Papum Pare administration managed to reach Taraso today and inspected the Assam encroached area at Radhaso, where the Assam Govt has illegally and unilaterally established a Forest Protection Camp on Sunday last. The attempt by the team led by Tai Kaye DC and P N Khrimey SP to inspect the encroached construction site via Borgang and Behali was foiled by the Assam counterpart yesterday by restriction of entry by Assam Police and sabotage of approach roads.
Overcoming all odds, they reached the Assam encroached area at Radhaso by repairing the sabotaged road, travelling half by motorcycle and half on foot today.

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: After expiration of its seven day’s ultimatum which it served to the state government, the United Organisation of Arunachal Pradesh (UOAP) today staged a protest rally against the Tuki led Congress Government over the alleged financial crisis. Hundreds of people joined the protest march from Akashdeep in Ganga market which ended at Tennis Court IG Park here. The agitators shouted slogans, “Lagao Lagao CBI Inquiry Lagao” “Resign Do.! Resign Do..! Nabam Tuki Resign Do..!” with placards castigating the state government.
Holding Chief Minister Nabam Tuki responsible for the alleged financial mismanagement, UOAP reiterated its demand for a CBI inquiry into the financial mismanagement so that defaulters may be punished under appropriate law. Addressing the gathering crowd, UOAP general secretary Atung Tana said that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki must resign from the CM post on moral ground alleging him of responsible for current crisis. The organisation also alleged him of unable to run the government.
Earlier, UOAP submitted a seven days ultimatum letter to the Governor on June 20, 2015 demanding for imposition of President Rule and declaration of financial emergency considering the financial crisis of Arunachal Pradesh.

Seva Dal burns effigies of Rajasthan CM and union ministers
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (APCSD) took out a protest rally at Naharlagun demanding resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Ministers for Human Resource Development, Smriti Zubin Irani and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
The Seval Dal demanded Rajasthan Chief Minister Raje and Union Minister Sushma Swaraj’s resignation for their alleged involvement in the “lalitgate” controversy and Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani for her alleged fake degree certificate.
The protestors also burnt effigies of the Rajasthan CM and the union ministers, and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not taking action against Lalit Modi thus indirectly protecting the offenders.
Besides, Seva Dal leaders and workers of other frontal wings of Congress Party, including Arunachal Pradesh City Congress Mahila, City Congress, National Students Union of India, State Unit, Arunachal Pradesh City Congress Youth, Congress Councilors and Panchayat leaders participated in the rally.
DC assess damages, reviews disaster preparedness
DAPORIJO, Jun 29: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom in a meeting today took stock of damages caused to roads, drains, culverts, water supply pipelines etc due to heavy rain on Sunday night.
Daporijo witnessed water logging and flooding at various places due to blockage of drains, landslides due to excessive earth cutting, disruption of water supply and blockage of roads after the high intensity rain.
The roads from Daporijo to Ziro and Daporijo to Bam, which were blocked due to landslides at several places, have been cleared and opened for vehicular movement.
The DC also reviewed disaster preparedness and asked all the heads of departments to remain in station and respond quickly to any disaster situation. He suggested all the District Quick Response Teams to remain alert and ready to deal with any kind of disaster during the monsoon season. DDMO Lobsang informed about the damages caused by the rains and steps taken to mitigate its effects.
Stating that colonies with proper drainage system faced no problems during the rainy season, he emphasised the need for proper drainage system, construction of houses in stable areas and away from rivers and streams. He also advised for proper inspection and declaration of disaster prone areas as ‘Danger zones’ and evacuation of such areas during rainy season.

AACWA urge CM to assess and prepare flood damage report
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) President Takam Padu and the Assistant General Secretary of the Association met Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in New Delhi and urged him for issuing directive to Disaster Management Authority to assess the properties lost or damaged by monsoon fury in the last two month in the state.
According to an AACWA release, the Chief Minister has assured to submit a report in this regard to Government of India within 15 days for allocation of funds.
Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Speaker was also present during their brief meeting.
Later, the AACWA office bearer duo also called on Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju to discuss the same issue.
Rijiju, who is also the disaster management authority of northeast states, has reportedly told about granting sufficient funds from the Centre for the purpose of relief, rehabilitation and restoration work.
Rijiju also told them that the Centre will consider allocation of fund for restoration of defunct mini and micro hydel projects in Arunachal Pradesh to avoid loss being incurred due to purchasing of power from other states, the release said. He further assured to take up urgently with Ministry of Rural development for granting funds against ongoing projects under PMGSY and fund for payment of contractors, the release claimed.
